Gran Turismo 5 Tracks and Cars
The latest game in the Gran Turismo series is GT5. This updated game will include over 20 different race tracks and locations. Out of the 20+ tracks on the Gran Turismo 5 game there are 70 different circuits or variations of the tracks. The main guy who is in charge of Gran Turismo and in particular GT5, Mr Yamauchi, has previously said that Gran Turismo aims to include the 1,000 car milestone in the future however even at this late stage the actual number of cars to be featured in GT5 is still unknown however we do expect it to be between 950 and 1,000 cars.
Gran Turismo 5 Tracks
We have had exclusive news that one of the new tracks on Gran Turismo 5 will be Dunsfold Park. This track is located in the UK and is more famous for being the test track of the BBC TV show Top Gear. For those gamers who just cant wait for the game to be released the playable demo of GT 5 which was one of the headlines at Gamescom back in 2009, included the famous Tokyo Route 246 track. Those who have played the earlier versions of Gran Turismo will be pleased that this track is still included as it was definitely one of the best tracks to race and play. We have been told that some other tracks which will definitely be included in the final GT5 game are Nurburgring Nordschleife, Tsukuba Circuit, Daytona International Speedway, two new Rome and Madrid city circuits and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Gran Turismo 5 Cars
In terms of the cars within the game there is only limited information available but we do know that in Gran Turismo 5 both Lamborghini and Bugatti will be two of the new editions to the garage after they were first introduced on the PSP. In some more recent statements it has been announced that new gullwing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will be one of the latest cars to be added to to the game and will appear alongside the recently unveiled Ferrari 458 Italia.
People have often wondered why McLaren have not been included in previous Gran Turismo games and GT5 has changed that where McLaren make their first ever appearence as a native manufacturer with the McLaren F1 road car now being available to drive.
Looking at Polyphony Digital's website you will find a fairly recent article which talks about the inclusion of various electric / hybrid cars in the new GT5 game which has since been confirmed. The only electric car that we are aware will be included in the game is the Tesla Motors vehicle. While a selection of Hybrid cars have previously been seen in Gran Turismo 4, this has been heavily influenced by Japanese car manufacturers Toyota (with the Toyota Prius Car) and by Honda.
Last year at the Tokyo Game Show 2009 during a presentation and speech about Gran Turismo 5, Mr Yamauchi talked in depth about the most recent hybrid and electric cars that will be included in Gran Turismo 5. He said that several; different cars will be included and for the first time ever, in GT5, the cars will be separated into two different categories. Either into the 'standard or 'premium' category.

In Gran Turismo 5, cars that appear in the 'Standard' category will have manufacturer fitted headlights with a very simple interior modelling and will have basic damage modelling around them when they crash. On the other side, cars in the 'Premium' category will be much more detailed and realistic both on the outside but also on the inside. They will have detailed headlights which the user will be able to switch between full and dip beams (just like a real car) and also include a new extensive and detailed damage model. We expect that there will be more cars in the standard category as these take less time to model.
