Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo

The Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo was eagerly awaited at the end of 2009. The GT5 demo was finally released on December 17th 2009 on the increasingly popular PlayStation Network. There were limitations with the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo as you could only play it while you were signed into the PlayStation Network.

Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo The GT5 demo wasn't your typical demo, it was simply the initial section of the 2010 Gran Turismo 5 GT Academy. In addition to the demo game itself there was a added competition aspect with the quickest drivers from the GT5 time trial demo eventually being entered into a prize draw to be able to drive a actual (real life) racing car in a real racing competition. This was obviously extremely interesting and appealing for petrol heads and cyber drivers alike.

Despite all the hype generated by the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo and the competition the demo did show off the progress that has been made to the game since Gran Turismo 4. GT5 is Polyphony Digital's latest game and when you compare the computer graphics, the physics and many other relevant aspects of game play and design it is another level above the rest. We couldn't believe how realistic the game play is and at times it looks like real video clips are being used.

The Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo featured both regular and tuned up editions of the new Nissan 370Z which is a unbelievable car. The track featured in the GT5 Time Trial Demo the Indianapolis GP circuit. This is a previously unseen track and one of the new editions to the Gran Turismo series. The Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo has been heavily praised for its updated graphics and the tweaks that Polyphony Digital have made to the physics behind the game. The only criticism of the GT5 Time Trial demo was for its unusually stiff camera angle and view and the fact that is fairly unclear about what aspects of the final game the demo represents and which bits the demo is not representative of. Since March 2010 you can no longer play the Time Trial demo so you'll have to wait for the real game.

In a recent announcement Polyphony Digital have said that a new Gran Turismo 5 demo will be available prior to the release of the game in November 2010 and will be distributed via the usual means.
